Dear Bridgewater-Raritan Community:

The New Jersey Department of Health has updated the recommendations for K-12 Schools. The most significant change to the guidance recommends that we quarantine exposed close contacts that are age 12 or older who have not received a recommended booster shot when eligible.

Children aged 12 or older are eligible to receive the booster 5 months after they have received either a 2-dose series of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine).

Children aged 12 or older that have had the vaccinations less than 5 months ago will continue to be treated as vaccinated for close contact purposes and will not need to quarantine.

It is important to note that if a student who is eligible to have a booster does not get the booster, they will be quarantined in the event they are identified as a close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID.

The district has been in contact with our local health department official to discuss the implementation of the new recommendations and have developed a plan to implement them starting March 1st.

The Middle-Brook Regional Health Commission will be sponsoring additional COVID Vaccination/Booster Clinics for Bridgewater-Raritan students on the following dates:

January 26
February 9
February 23

 A separate communication via school messenger will be sent to parents as each date approaches to register.
