Festival of the Arts continued with a fantastic Orchestra Concert

Another festive evening of scintillating music in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District was performed on Wednesday, March 20.

The Festival of Arts continued that evening when the Orchestra Concert—-the second of four events in this prestigious school district program— was staged before an attentive audience at the Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s Vaughn Stapleton Gymnasium.

The robust evening began with the playing of The Star-Spangled Banner by the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Symphony Orchestra.

Then the attention was turned to the schools.

The Hillside Intermediate School 6th Grade Orchestra, which was conducted by their Director Thomas Lewis, kicked off the performance. The Eisenhower Intermediate School students followed under their Director, Lisa Gaudet, who served as the conductor during the performance.

Carrie Jendza is the Co-Director of the Orchestra at Hillside with Mr. Lewis and at Eisenhower with Ms. Gaudet.

The Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School’s 7th Grade Orchestra then performed under their conductor, Director Emma Piedilato. Director Catherine Butler then conducted her Middle School 8th Grade Orchestra.

Ms. Butler was the conductor when the Middle School Chamber Orchestra followed with their showing.

Hsiao-yu Lin (Sherry) Griggs served as the conductor for her three Bridgewater-Raritan High School orchestra groups.

The Ninth Orchestra first played, followed by the Concert Orchestra and then the evening was capped by the play of the Symphony Orchestra.

Vaughn Stapleton Gymnasium will be the site of the next round of the Festival of the Arts on Thursday, March 21, when the Band Concert is performed.

The fourth and final event in the Festival of the Arts will be the Visual Arts Exhibit on April 17 at the high school’s gym and cafeteria.

Here is the complete program of the Orchestra Concert.
