Another race and another championship for the talented sophomore girls’ cross-country runners at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.
Bridgewater-Raritan placed first in the Sophomore Class race at the Magee Memorial Class Meet that was run on Saturday, September 21, at the Greystone-Central Park in Morris Plains.
A week earlier on September 14, Bridgewater-Raritan won the Sophomore Class race at the Thompson Park 2-Miler in Monroe.
At Greystone, Bridgewater-Raritan won the 5-K race in the Sophomore Class over a field of 27 teams. Bridgewater-Raritan’s championship effort was guided by Sofia Daniels, who placed third in a time of 20:29, and Kaitlyn Chu, who finished fourth in 20:31.Chu had won the Sophomore Class race the week earlier at the Thompson Park 2-Miler.
Also contributing to the Sophomore Class title for Bridgewater-Raritan were Lana Guelich, who ended in 23rd with a time of 21:57, and Sophia Rizarri, who was 34th in 23:04.
Bridgewater-Raritan also delivered a strong performance in the 5-K Senior Class race with a fifth-place finish, tying Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, in a field of 32 schools. Jessica Borchert paced Bridgewater-Raritan in the Senior Class with an eight-place finish in 19:46.
Also placing for Bridgewater-Raritan were seniors Diya Inta, who was 46th in 22:07, Stacey Yang, who came in 54th in 22:29, and Jacqueline Shimko, who ended in 63rd in 22:59.
The Bridgewater-Raritan freshman girls placed 11th out of 20 teams in the 3.6-K race for freshmen. Anabela Mastropasqua led Bridgewater-Raritan with a 36th-place finish in 16:07.27.
