Another championship showing was produced by the Bridegwater-Raritan High School freshman girls’ volleyball team.
In its second tournament appearance of the season, Bridgewater-Raritan won the Bloomfield High School Freshman Tournament on Saturday, September 28. Bridgewater-Raritan finished first in a field of 24 schools when it defeated Hunterdon Central Regional High School in the title match.
Bridgewater-Raritan had also knocked out Hunterdon Central in a championship match two weeks earlier at the Livingston Invitational Freshman Tournament at Livingston High School.
On Saturday, September 14, Bridgewater-Raritan capped an undefeated performance at Livingston when it defeated Hunterdon Central in a final of a field of 13 teams.
It was a grueling 9.5-hour day from start to finish that was well worth it,” said Kristin Bonczek, the head coach of Bridgewater-Raritan’s freshman squad.
Coach Bonczek, who has guided Bridgewater-Raritan to a 7-2 record during the dual season this fall, is thrilled with the effort her players have produced.
“This group of 16 freshmen has been dedicated to our program's work ethic since our tryouts back in the middle of August,’ Coach Bonczek reflected. “I am beyond proud of the way they step onto the court each day with the will to work hard and get better every chance they get.”
But this season may include more achievements.
“This group of young women has been impressive to watch, and we still have one month to keep pushing through this season,” Coach Bonczek shared.
