Bridgewater-Raritan High School's girls' soccer tam advanced to the state sectional tournament championship game when it pitched a 4-0 shutout victory over Bayonne High School on Monday, November 11, in Bayonne.
Bridgewater-Raritan is the third seed in the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state tournament, while Bayonne is the No. 2 seed.
Bridgewater-Raritan will now bid to post another upset when it plays top-seeded Westfield High School in the state sectional final on Thursday in Westfield.
Westfield knocked out fourth-seeded Elizabeth High School, 4-1, in the other state sectional semifinal on November 11.
Bridgewater-Raritan's dominating effort against Bayonne was sparked by Audra Day, who connected for two goals, and Reese Reimann and Grace Drumgool, who each hit for one goal. Brooke Engstrom earned the shutout in goal.
Day's two goals helped send Bridgewater-Raritan to a 3-0 lead at the half.
