The mission was to promote SOAR.
And the mission was accomplished with a roar.
The Eisenhower Intermediate School promoted its “SOAR into Kindness Spirit Week” by staging its culminating school-wide Kindness Rally on Friday afternoon, February 13.
At Eisenhower, the motto is S for safety, O for ownership, A for accecptance and R for respect. That adds up to SOAR.
At this lively assembly held in the school’s spacious gymnasium, the Eisenhower school colors, yellow and blue, were proudly worn by two teams of students and staff.
These two teams challenged each other in friendly, competitive games, while the entire student body and staff roared with approval.
The master of ceremonies was the school’s highly popular Seteve Fenton, who is a Health and Physical Education Teacher.
And speaking of popularity, Eisenhower Principal Dr. Laura Bassett soared with energy over the assembly.
“Mr. Fenton spoke with all students about the importance of leading and growing by showing kindness. And Mr. (Jim) Perry and Ms. (Nicole) Fitzpatrick coached the staff teams in a box-stacking and balloon-popping challenge. Ms. (Madison) Kaminsky and Ms. (Christine) Nevill led the entire school in a song, and members of the cheerleading team (along with a special guest - the Eisenhower Eagle) led a school-wide cheer,” Principal Bassett reported.
Principal Bassett continued.
“It was a fun way to celebrate our spirit week and send our eagles off into the long weekend with the message of the importance of showing kindness to all.”
Additionally, at the beginning of the assembly, Dr. Bassett and Assistant Principal Brian Smith announced the marking period’s Exceptional Eagle award recipients.
Exceptional Eagles are nominated each marking period by their teachers for demonstrating a commitment to showing safety, ownership, acceptance, and respect, and by showing how to SOAR each day at Eisenhower Intermediate School, according to Principal Bassett.
Principal Bassett concluded the festive afternoon when she said:
“ We are proud of all our students and grateful to the staff, and especially the PE department, for leading our kindness rally today!”
