They are not creepy or kooky, but they are hardworking and having fun.
These are the students who make up the Eisenhower Intermediate School Drama Club.
They are practicing hard and enjoying their after-school rehearsals as they prepare to put on their best creepy, kooky act.
The Eisenhower Drama Club will present “The Addams Family Musical” to be performed on Wednesday, March 11, and Thursday, March 12. The curtain will rise for each show at 7 p.m. There will also be a matinee show for the student body on March 12.
According to Wikipedia, the Addams Family is a fictional family created by American Cartoonist Charles Addams. The Addams Family is an eccentric old-money clan who delight in the macabre and the grotesque and are seemingly unaware or unconcerned that others find them bizarre or frightening.
Their story originally appeared in a series of comic books in the late 1930s. It was adapted into a television series in the mid-1960s, later becoming an animated series and a series of feature films.
In Eisenhower’s production, two of the leading actors, Franz Kendrik Timbang, a 5th Grader who is portraying the family’s father, Gomez Addams, and 6th Grader Ella Bossotti, who is playing the daughter, Wednesday Addams, shared their thoughts about the play during a recent afternoon rehearsal in the school’s gymnasium.
“There are a lot of lines to remember, but it is a lot of fun,” Franz said. “Our entire cast and crew are all respectful, and we are looking forward to the show.”
“I am trying to be serious in my role of Wednesday,” Ella revealed. “But I am having a lot of fun doing it.
The two directions of the show are Madison Kaminsky, the school’s Music Teacher, and Jessica Reynlds, an Instructional Assistant.
They both kept their cast and crew sharp during this rehearsal. And are pleased with the results.
“Our Eisenhower Drama Club has been working very hard in rehearsals to prepare for our spring musical performance in March,’ Ms. Kaminsky said. “Jess Reynolds and I are so proud of all of the dance, music, and lines that our students have worked tirelessly to memorize. This show is sure to be spooky, silly, and heartwarming. We hope to see you there!
“We know it is a grim and scary family,” Franz added.
