Spring Sing

A team effort that will eventually form one team was experienced by the choir students from the Eisenhower Intermediate School and Hillside Intermediate School.

On Monday, May 18, the students came together with 14 dedicated Music Teachers from the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District at Hillside to participate in the 7th Annual Spring Sing.

The Eisenhower and Hillside choir students were introduced to Gabriele Hingelberg, who is the Choir Director at the Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School, the next stop for these students.

The students also go to work with Christine Nevill, the Eisenhower Choral Teacher, and Danielle Kida, the Hillside Choral Teacher, who will both make the move next fall to the Middle School

The students learned about the Middle School Choral program and then sang in a combined choir, performed for their parents, ate lunch together, and participated in breakout workshops with the school district's Music Teachers.

They also worked with Lisa Rotondi, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Choral Director, who will be their teacher in a few years.

The host of the event was Tony Sgro, Hillside’s devoted Choral director.

“Spring Sing is about much more than a performance. Students spend the day learning from music educators across the district, exploring movement, singing, recording technology, and collaborative music-making in a joyful and supportive environment,” Mr. Sgro stated.

Ms. Rotondi enjoyed her role and her experience that day,

“Spring Sing gives students from across our district the opportunity to experience the joy of music-making together. Watching almost 300 young singers collaborate, create, and perform as one community is always incredibly inspiring,” Ms. Rotondi said.

Ms. Hingelberg added:

“One of the most meaningful parts of Spring Sing is seeing students connect through music beyond their own schools. The event builds confidence, friendship, creativity, and a true sense of belonging.”
